Inspired by the Firefly tv series and Ursula LeGuin's EarthSea. (Name is subject to change pending group approval)

Characters

Major characters

Alessan Captain of the Darling of the Sea

Fifteen years ago the armies of the Sorceror-King Ygrath crushed his homeland and virtually obliterated his people. Now Alessan sails the outer reaches of the Archipelago, the Darling his last vestige of freedom.

Dega Menoth Mage, and trusted friend of Alessan.

Dega Menoth is evading capture by the Red Guard (see Factions)

Aedel Great Wolf

A dominant she-wolf on a quest to destroy the spirit that decimated her pack. Not very trusted by the Crew of the Darling of the Sea.

Asaph Prophet in training

A young and somewhat Naive man from a small and remote island, who claims that he is a prophet of God.

Crew

Kenneth The ship's Quartermaster. Likes: Drinking, fat harlots and good food Dislikes: Giant Wolves, religious zealots, waking up before noon

The Ship's cook He cooks food, has an amicable relationship with Emereth.


Other Characters

Emereth An elemental spirit, in this case, fire. Emereth was rescued from the raided hut of a rural witch. Emereth currently resides within the ship's stove. He enjoys conversations with Dega on the nature of fire, consuming firewood, and simmering stew.

Katura A senior member of the Red Guard. Katura and her two companions, Damian and Seth, Have tracked Dega to the island of Islingard.

Factions

The Red Guard An ancient order of warriors tasked with protecting the world from mages who seek to abuse their powers.

Red Guardians originally had a pleasent, albiet, working relationship with Sorcerers. In times more recent, they've become somewhat corrupted into a type of Inquisition. Full members of the guard have a degree of resistance to the direct effects of magic. This resistance comes from their ritual of drinking dragon's blood.

Places

Tigana, aka Ana-Gitsyak

Alessan's homeland, which was conquered by Ygrath fifteen years ago. Now known as Ana-Gitsyak by most inhabitants of the isles due to the effects of Ygrath's potent spell.

Creatures and Monsters

Dragons Yes, Dragons exist, they are magical.

Water Maiden Water Maidens are undead creatures who feast on the flesh and blood of men who are unfortunant enough to enter the water in which they dwell.

According to legend, Water Maidens are the bodies of young women who are murderd or drowned before they are wed. Water Maidens dwell in groups in pristine but secluded coves and bays on sparsely populated islands, lurking just under the surface, ready to grab the hands or feet of a man unlucky enough to enter.

Elementals Elementals are the sentient forms of elements such as Fire, Trees and earth. Elementals are often the companions of sorcerers.
