A Test of Faith is set in Peloria and is one of various Burning Wheel campaigns set in the world of Dunya. Dunya is a low-magic fantasy world seeminly forgotten by the Gods. Dunya is home to a rich tapestry of inter-connected settings including Nordheim, the Golden Coast, the Duchies of Karpa, Selene, Rakhira and the Han Empire. Other Burning Wheel campaigns set in Dunya include: Fall Apples of Negoiu, Clan Bok's Folly and Burning Shackles.

BACKGROUND:

A Test of Faith is a one-off scenario which is to be resolved over the course of one evening of play.

It takes place in the northern reaches of Peloria. It is winter and a small delegation of pelorian monks has made its way to the Pilgrimage of St August in the Light of Pelor. Unfortunatly, when they get there, they discover the pilgrimage vacant. The small order of monks who should be there appears to be missing... It is winter and supplies are running thin.

We are days travelling away from the nearest Nordheim settlement. The night is falling and with the blizzard, there appears to be little choice but to venture onwards and take shelter...

Inspiration-wise, I've drawn a lot from survival horror (George Romero), The Name of the Rose, John Carpenter's The Thing and Alien 3.

This scenario is designed for 5 people and I hope that it will consider the game dynamics in terms of advantages and disadvantages in character design, with each character posessing a clear advantage and drawback over the others. Further, it attempts to consider issues of faith in Dunya, a world where the gods have gone missing.
